Harvey M. Goodman is a nationally recognized public adjuster with extensive experience in adjusting first-party property insurance claims. He has assisted numerous industries including construction, education, health, hospitality, manufacturing, non-profits, real estate, retail, transportation, and warehousing with claims ranging from builders risk to collapse, fire, wind, and water damage.

With over 35 years of experience in property insurance, Harvey has been involved with numerous insurance claims including: Four New York Plaza/Edge Funds, Beaulieu of America, Coakley & Williams Construction, Dulles Jet Center, Durst Organization/One Bryant Park, Eagle Bank, Federal Realty Investment Trust, Foulger-Pratt Companies, Howard Hughes Corporation, LaSalle Hotels, Macklowe Properties/510 Madison, MedStar Health, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, Ronald D. Mr. Goodman leads the firm’s senior management, adjusts complex claims and initiates and manages relationships with new clients throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Europe. Additionally, Harvey writes and lectures on builders risk, collapse coverage, catastrophic claim adjusting, gaps in insurance coverage and other topics.

Mr. Goodman specializes in builders risk and large complex claims. His strengths include insurance coverage analysis, executive presentations and claim negotiations. He is a driven professional who works tirelessly to develop winning claim strategies to make his clients whole after a property damage loss. He has forged strong, lasting relationships with many clients, is an excellent communicator and an innovative problem solver.

Mr. Goodman is involved in many charitable endeavors and was recently selected as one of The Baltimore Daily Record’s Most Admired CEO’s. Harvey is married, with three daughters and lives in Potomac, Maryland.

Professional Involvement

Mr. Goodman is a past President of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA), is currently a board member of Eagle Bancorp (a NASDAQ listed company) and is a past director of Adjusters International. He has presented lectures on builders risk/course of construction loss adjustments, large multi-layered loss adjustments, and boiler & machinery loss adjustments to the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) on five occasions, and has presented to the Hospitality Law Conference, the American Bar Association (ABA) Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section/Property Insurance Law Committee’s Annual Spring CLE Meeting, the First Party Claims Conference, the Annual Windstorm Conference, the National League of Cities-Risk Information Sharing Consortium (NLC-RISC) and to many other groups. Harvey has provided expert witness testimony and/or been deposed in numerous cases.

Harvey is the author of the Adjusting Today articles, “Proving an Insured Loss: Policyholders Need Experts too” and “Contingent Business Interruption Issues Continue Following Disasters in Japan.” He has taught seminars on insurance to business leaders and insurance agents, as well as been a guest lecturer on property insurance at the University of Maryland.
